Jersey City Municipal Utilities Authority 

Notice of Public Hearing and May 28, 2026 Board Meeting


JCAOA will continue to provide updates as the date of the hearing approaches. The notice from the Jersey City Municipal Utilities Authority announces a public hearing regarding proposed updates to connection fees for new developments and utility system connections.


The proposed fees will be double by 

January 1, 2027.


The proposed updates are to reflect current capital costs, system capacity demands, and operational expenses associated with new development.  Stakeholders including developers, contractors, engineers, and property owners will be affected by the new connection fees.


The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, May 28, 3 PM at 13-15 Linden Avenue East to set the new sewer and water connection fees. The meeting is open to the public, allowing comments and objections before any fee revisions are formally adopted.



Proposed Sewer Connection Fees 

per Equivalent Dwelling Unit (EDU)

  • Current 1,791.00/EDU

  • June 1, 2026 -  1,845.00/EDU (+ 3.02%/54.00)

  • January 1, 2027 - 3,690.00/EDU (+100%/1845.00)



Proposed Water Connection Fee

  • June 1, 2026: $2,255 per EDU

  • January 1, 2027: $4,510 per EDU (+100%/2,255.00)
